Sunday

Happy Sunday. Today I am grateful for a husband that eagerly shows his love for me. A teenager who demonstrates respect and a young adult who is thriving in her independence. What are you grateful for?

Happy Black Friday

Sounds weird, huh? This is what I heard a server say at our favorite local Mexican restuarant. I think it is happy for them. We arrived for a late lunch and the place was packed with couples of women, sweat pants dorned, likely having been out since the wee hours, just after rolling out of bed and maybe brushing their teeth.

Based on my observations, the economy looks to be booming. We faired well having scored a great deal on an early gift for ourselves, a new TV. That is it, we went to one store and scored the deal and followed with lunch. Only to begin to understand the impact of Black Friday. Somewhere I heard the history of the term Back Friday, but it wasn't important enough to me to remember.

Anyway, Happy Black Friday to all our retailers, restaurants, and pretty much anyone who sells anything.

oh, and Happy Thanksgiving too.

Wow, where has the time gone?

Okay - I really haven't written since March 29th? So, last I wrote I was contemplating a career change. Onward and upward I say. I am now in my second class towards a master's degree in counseling. YEAH! I absoutely love it and find myself oddly at piece about working, mothering, being a good wife - oh and going to school.

Daughter is back at college herself to start year two. She is doing great and I am so proud.

Son is a junior in high school - seems to be doing well with that. He is also a varsity football player so he is busy. Equally proud.

Husband is a great support and super-spouse. Again, proud.

Pride - it is okay, right?

SPRING!!

We have had an extraordinary March. First time ever (I think) to get through March without snow. B and I have birthdays this week - looks like we will celebrate ala like those born in June - 70+ degrees. While I realize it will likely turn cold, I just want to celebrate the weather.

I am contemplating a mid-life career change. Going to an open house next week to consider a grad program that would significantly change my life. I am very excited about the prospect and will write more on that as it becomes real.

Life is good. Count your blessings.

Already Feb but still Winter...

Wow, it has been a while. Been down with a 3+ week cold. Add a typical Mid-West winter and
I am down. Winter blues and blahs.
But trying to celebrate the little things.
Weekends spend with my best - b.
Took in a play. Explored new eats. Cooking new garb.

Reading more about marriage from Gottman's work. Great stuff, pretty logical and easy to apply to life. I love working on my marriage. That and parenting are the places in my life where work is fun. I see the rewards of hard work and it feels amazing.

Life - Christmas style

Sometimes life sucks.
Sometimes I hate the routine.
Sometimes I hate my job.
Sometimes I hate obligations.
